چکیده
The paper investigates waves generated by the moving loads on ice plates floating an incompressible fluid. Two different viscoelastic approximations are considered for cover: A model depending strain-relaxation time, and a including hereditary delay integral. problem is formulated in terms of exact dispersion relation Dirichlet–Neumann operator connected to fluid motion. Weakly nonlinear linear derived truncating operator. Laplace transform used find solutions linearized problems two models considered. • Visco-elastic effects sheets. Exact problem. Study wave response practical cases.

Water waves generated by a moving bottom
Tsunamis are often generated by a moving sea bottom. This paper deals with the case where the tsunami source is an earthquake. The linearized water-wave equations are solved analytically for various sea bottom motions. Numerical results based on the analytical solutions are shown for the free-surface profiles, the horizontal and vertical velocities as well as the bottom pressure.
متن کاملWater waves generated by disturbances at an ice cover
This paper is concerned with two-dimensional unsteady motion of water waves generated by an initial disturbance created at an ice sheet covering the water. The ice cover is modeled as a thin elastic plate. Using linear theory, the problem is formulated as an initial value problem for the velocity potential describing the motion in the liquid. In the mathematical analysis, the Laplace and Fourie...
متن کاملCapillary-gravity waves generated by a slow moving object.
We investigate theoretically and experimentally the capillary-gravity waves created by a small object moving steadily at the water-air interface along a circular trajectory. It is well established that, for straight uniform motion, no steady waves appear at velocities below the minimum phase velocity c(min)=23 cm s(-1). We demonstrate that no such velocity threshold exists for a steady circular...
متن کاملStresses generated in cooling viscoelastic ice shells: Application to Europa
[1] A cooling viscoelastic ice shell overlying an ocean develops stresses due to two effects: thermal contraction of the ice due to cooling and the expansion of the shell due to the ice-water volume change. The former effect generates near-surface compression and deeper extension; the second effect generates extension only. In both cases, stresses are smaller at depth due to viscous creep. The ...

Within the framework of linear theory, applicable far from the shore, we investigate the two-dimensional propagation of waves generated in the ocean by a sudden seabed deformation.
